C.David Russell’s career includes costume and scenic design, scene painting, costume

and property crafts, puppetry, fine art installation, event design, project management

and teaching. He is Head of the Scenic and Costume Design Program at Ohio

University School of Theater and supervisor of the scenic painting shop. He serves as

Chair of Production Design and Technology, and formerly served as Head of the

Costume Crafts Technology Program and instructor of costume design and crafts at

Ohio University from 2003-2010.

Russell’s professional credits include Scenic and Costume Design with The Resident

Ensemble Players in Newark, DE, The Enchantment Theater Company with The

Cleveland Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Montreal Symphony, and Seattle

Symphony; Costume Design with The Shakespeare Theater of New Jersey, Theater

Works Hartford, and Pittsburgh Public Theatre. He was Puppet Designer and

constructed puppets for Red Mountain Theater in Birmingham, AL. He worked at New

Mexico’s Santa Fe Opera for 13 seasons as a Props Artisan and served 5 years as the

Master Props Craftsman. In addition, C. David Russell originates fine art collaborative

installations with multimedia artist Mateo Galvano, including notable exhibitions at the

Kennedy Museum of Art, Athens, OH, and Longwood University, Farmville, VA.

Russell holds a BFA from Ohio University and a MFA from New York University TISCH

School for the Arts.
