Lacuna is an intermedia collaboration between Mateo Galvano, and C. David Russell
This show is being presented at the Kennedy Museum of Art in Athens, Ohio August 20, 2021 thru March 5, 2022
The installation features sculptures, moving images, and an audio soundscape. At the heart of the exhibition is a stop-motion animated film featuring a Bramble Puppet made of sticks. A language of formal abstraction conveys a story about the creative process.

"Lacuna" investigates an assembly of ancient and contemporary sculptural and time-based forms. Conceptual and formal theatrical strategies are used. In a room made out of silk walls, "Lacuna" consists of sculptures called Breaths, and a cast plaster assemblage. These objects inhabit the space in addition to 2 moving image video projections. One video features the bramble puppet on a journey between layers of existence. An additional video, projected on the outside of the silk room, is the abstract Water video by collaborator Mateo Galvano, who contributed the ambient soundscape. The theatrical space invites a contemplation of stillness and movement.
